Mini Vacation

It seems to have calmed down a bit from the Christmas holiday. phew...
Back to work for most on this Monday; not for me, I am in the midst of a mini vacation. Yahoo!! I had to work on Christmas , so I was granted a few days off afterwards - up through the new year.

I mugged a few running gifts from Santa this year. Let's see.. Hydration pack water reservoir for my long run days(not sure if I want to lug extra lbs on my back running?), Nike winter running gloves, Apple Ipod Touch, Armband for Ipod, Nike +sensor, and some of those cool running socks.
The cool thing about the new Ipod Touch is that it has the Nike + built into it. All I have to do is attatch my Nike sensor to my shoe and voila it records my running and workouts. I purchased a shoe pouch for the sensor off of the internet since I don't have Nike + shoes. Now you guys will have to be bored with more running data from me. hahaha!!
I hit my 700 miles for the year on Sunday. I am pumped! This was my first year running since the mid 90's. I would've never thought back in January that I would be posting that kind of mileage. WOOT!WOOT! Still slow though..haha
Last weeks runs:
Mon 4.5 miles
Tue  3.1 miles
Fri    3.1 miles
Sat   6.0 miles
Sun  9.8 miles
I recorded some good mileage this weekend. Mother Nature was good to me and I decided to run outside. Nice change...
I managed to sneak away from the kids on Saturday.(They are out of school for 2 weeks!ahhhhhh!! kidding....) I traveled to the mountains and visited Ober Gatlinburg Ski Center. Because of the 70 degree weather the snow was slush.
I really wanted to go skiing, but didn't bring ski gear. Maybe in Jan? I went ice skating instead. It was so much fun! I haven't been since I was 12. I use to be able to skate well, but not anymore. It was scary watching me - felt like I was learning to walk again. LOL!
BTW, Thanks Shosh for the ski/iceskate idea.
Gonna take the boys to a movie tomorrow. Any ideas?
Peace.
:)

Your gadgets are awesome...I get so excited over running loot. I still need some running gloves (that is my excuse why I don't run outside in the cold...!)

Great mileage this past week!

Wow on the mileage! Great job taking advantage of the awesome weather :)

I've run out of things to do with my munchkins, & I still have the rest of the week. I think I'll actually be glad to go to work tomorrow night & the next one after.

Santa was VERY good to you!
Is it weird that I'm totally excited you got a Nike+? Probably. But be sure to share your thoughts! I'm sure I'll have to replace my old school iPod shuffle soon, so I'll be looking at upgrading my Nike+ sportband too.

Nice miles total, Dave! I'll be interested to see how you use the camelbak device, too. I have one for biking (well, for the Army, but use it on the bike), and I love it!

I am so jealous! My bro-in-law got an iTouch and I fell in love! (with the iTouch not my bro ha ha). I've been experimenting with a Blackberry recently and I'm not liking it all that much. Just think...you have instant access to all blogs all the time! :-) (well, in wi-fi areas of course)

Great job on the 700 miles - that is a HUGE accomplishment and you should be pretty proud of yourself! I see great things ahead for you in '09 - you have turned a corner on this journey and there's no looking back!

Good job Dave, you rock!

Hey there. WOW you made out like a bandit this Christmas. I am still dealing with my iPod mini from the first generation LOL and we even get a discount here on Apple stuff.

I am glad that I planted the idea of skiing in your head. I am heading back up on the 1st for the day. It was like ice skating but down hill last week. I think that I would have prefered the slush.

BTW...I did not know you too were a skier. :-) Love the running data, it's so inspiring. Keep it up.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh.... running porn!!! That is quite phenomenal in term of hitting 700 miles this year. That is so awesome!

FYI - I love data. I love anything statistical. I am addicted to numbers. I am eager to see your data. Roll the numbers out dude!

Happy New Year ! I cannot wait to see what 2009 brings for you and your running regiment!

I have no "set in stone goals" but maybe a milage goal would be what I should shoot for. Tomorrow is the start of my half marathon program. I'm going to run three BEFORE our 10k. LOL. Yea my dog is fast. Maybe a little TOO fast. But thats what I want, to get faster so I'll just have to chase her down now won't I?

Happy 2009!
